Since March 2022, Purecod holds licenses to farm Atlantic cod in closed pens in Røneset, in Storfjorden, on the west coast of Norway.
Røneset is family cottage that wakes up every day to the sound of the ocean. Written sources document that the first human settlements in Røneset date back to the beginning of the XVI century.
For centuries, entire families have lived of farming, equipment, and fishing of different species, including cod, salmon, and herring.
The Rønes have lived here for generations. Lovers of fish and nature, they take care of the land, and the fish in these waters.
They understand better than anyone the historic importance of this natural heritage they are lucky to call home.
Røneset is, naturally, the place for cod. Its clean, cold, and calm waters, and the long winters, make it a perfect place for this species to thrive.
